Dear Friends,

We are a nation at war: an economic war, a war against terror, a battle to regain the moral high ground that shaped our country, and a war against the federal government's takeover of our lives and liberty.

This is a critical time in our nation's history. Never before has the moral fabric of our society been so eroded — and never before has the overreaching arm of government extended so far into our daily lives.

Blame for this mess lies at the door of the Obama Administration, the Democrats, liberals, and decades of assaults on our Constitution, our liberty, the free market system, our military, and the traditional American family.

In short, the American way of life is under siege on every front, and we must fight with all our might to preserve it. We must rise to the occasion and do our part to "secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity." We cannot afford to be "summer soldiers" or "sunshine patriots" at this crucial time. For, as President Ronald Reagan stated: "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction." We may very well be that generation.

This is why I have decided to run for Congress against Democrat Jim Matheson. I've talked this over at great length with my wife Stefani, and we wholeheartedly believe this is the course we should take.

Matheson is part of the problem. He may be a likable fellow, but the party he belongs to and the sum of his votes are destroying our nation.

And whether through their socialist programs like Obamacare, meddling in the economy, imposing their revisionist history on our children in our public schools, or forcing their distorted view of morality on our military men and women, the Democrats have compromised the very soul of this nation and they have to go in 2012! 2010 was just the beginning of our task to restore the legacy of our founding fathers.

I'm not interested in going to Washington to be "nonpartisan." Compromising is largely what got us into this mess. It's time to send new people to Congress who aren't afraid of taking strong stands, and who are willing to do what's right, no matter how unpopular it may be. I'm not interested in serving a 20-year career in Congress; I want to go there, get the job done, and come home.

I feel that my background, resolve to win, and strong conservative beliefs will enable me to defeat Matheson and contribute to restoring this great nation.

I served over 25 years in the United States Air Force and Department of Defense. Most recently, I served as an Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense under George W. Bush, as a senior defense official responsible for energy, geospatial technology, and all U.S. military installations — worldwide.

I served in law enforcement for 10 years in the San Bernardino County, California, Sheriff's Department, and I worked on private property rights and public lands access issues for a variety of clients in opposition to Department of Interior and BLM land-grab policies.

I make no bones about it — I am a Reagan Republican. I had the honor of serving in the Reagan Administration on the Commission on the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution. Reagan called his constitutional conservatism a "three legged stool" consisting of fiscal responsibility, traditional family values, and a strong national defense.

Unfortunately, too many candidates today are content to focus on only one "leg" (the economy) at the expense of the other two. While the economy is vital, focusing on it alone won't ultimately change the direction of our nation, and as Reagan argued, if one leg is missing our nation will fall. We need conservatives in Congress who share Reagan's vision.

As the father of three young children, I value the fundamental role of morality and moral principles in our lives and our government. Our fight is for our children and their children.

Serving America in the military was not a sacrifice. It was an honor and a responsibility. I feel the same about serving in Congress. My duty to preserve, protect, and defend our nation against all enemies — foreign and domestic — will never cease.
